About Us
Advanced Roadskills is the only driving course that teaches advanced
driver training in the real environment , facing real situations
- ON NEW ZEALAND ROADS to a level of driving that exceeds standards
that have so far been acceptable in New Zealand.
You can replay a video & talk about it for
a month - you don't get that luxury out in the real world, you
have to learn to see the situation & get it right as it happens.
Consider this. Would you trust your life to an airline pilot who
has only watched videos, talked about flying and sat in a simulator?
Airlines don't. Why do some 'driving education' organisations advocate
these methods as being sufficient training for drivers then? In
one year, more people are killed & injured on New Zealand roads
than die in air crashes.
Advanced Roadskills programmes are focused on meeting the
needs of four target groups...
• Schools and youth groups that
want to ensure that the youth of today are safe and competent drivers
of the future.
• Companies
whose staff have company cars.
• Individuals
who want to enhance their driving skills so that they are able
to drive more competently.
• Drivers
who need high-level driving skills who are responsible for the
safety of others (ie: emergency services).
All of our trainers are qualified driving instructors, holding the LTSA ‘I’ endorsement
(this is the only instructor qualification recognized since 1999) all of our
driver trainers are highly experienced driving instructors trained to the same
exacting standards required by the Police Driver training Colleges in the UK.
We also have New Zealand's top motor cycle instructor, 4 wheel-drive specialists,
on hand to help road safety organisations and Government departments with research
work. Advanced Roadskills courses are based around standards set for European
Fleet Driver Training.
Advanced Roadskills, Fleet Driver Training is the only organisation that teaches
advanced driving in the environment and situations that drivers face every day
- on the road! Most companies spend a significant amount on training their staff,
from sales techniques to customer service. Yet company drivers are sometime entrusted
with an expensive asset with absolutely no training, apart from that received
to pass their basic driving test, often many years before. Driving is normally
the most dangerous daily activity for most people and Advanced Roadskills Fleet
Training Courses will greatly reduce that danger.
The main reason for this is that ARL concentrates it's Fleet training in the
environment that all drivers face - on New Zealand's roads. Advanced driver training
for ARL must contain the elements that crop up every second of every day and
that cannot be done on a race track, an airport runway, or large areas of grass
or gravel. Vehicle dynamics, Emergency braking techniques, crash avoidance exercises,
skid recognition/recovery, reaction time testing are only elements of ARL courses
which are conducted at the Road and Traffic Education Centre at Ardmore Airport.
Our courses take a more comprehensive approach to avoiding crashes; for example,
early hazard recognition to avoid an emergency situation developing and commentary
driving . Also it is important to have the instructors on board continuously
throughout the day so that clients have a 'one on one' relationship with each
instructor. This ensures that nothing is missed as is the case when instructors
are conducting courses from outside the vehicles. This means that Advanced
Roadskills have the best participant to instructor ratio compared to any other
course in New Zealand.
