DriveFit/FleetFit NZ is the end product of over 10 years of research in improving the quality of driver training and is now in operation in many other countries of the world with Advanced Roadskills developing the product for the New Zealand market. Research over this period of time has found out a new way to help new drivers improve their driving abilities and increase their chances of passing the driving test first time. The same tool can help experienced drivers add new performance levels to their existing driving skills and give a monitoring system to Fleet operators.

We recognise that there is no substitute for knowledge and behind-the-wheel experience, but research has shown that by training mental skills it is possible to significantly improve the following areas: judging distance and speed, concentration, avoiding distractions and reacting more quickly to hazards. Train Your Brain..... for the riskiest task you will perform today. Driving can be the riskiest task that New Zealand drivers face every day with drivers representing over 50% of the annual road toll every year since 1999. Young driver deaths for the 15-19 year old age group has climbed to 85 in 2005. (LTNZ figures) Research has shown that by training cognitive skills it is possible for individuals to significantly improve driving related abilities such as:

  • Reaction Time
  • Judgement (time, speed, distance)
  • Short term memory
  • Divided Attention

What is DriveFit/FleetFit NZ? DriveFit/FleetFit NZ is a sophisticated, user-friendly Programme now made easier to use and accessed through the internet.   DriveFit/FleetFit NZ presents a proven way for enhancing driving skills and abilities to both novice and experienced drivers. The Programme consists of 2 sections: assessment and training. Cognitive Assessment: Ranks 12 cognitive abilities from strongest to weakest.

And Training: provides 12 hours of personalised training on individual PC’s, plus unlimited access to the 18 unique training tasks. At the end of the programme a final assessment is sent to each individual participant. They can then return to the training tasks at any time for boost training.

There are five steps to the Programme now available on the internet
On receipt of payment a personalized code will be issued to log onto our web site, the process is very simple and you will be guided through the whole programme.

Step 1.
Assessment of where your cognitive (mental) skills stand to-day?
The assessment takes about 35 minutes to complete and covers key cognitive abilities such as attention, memory, perception and hand-eye coordination. These measures of the user’s cognitive abilities will be extremely useful to the user and allow that person’s instructor to personalise the in- vehicle training.

Step 2.
Report the assessment to you and head office (Fleet requirements).
Once the assessment is completed, the user receives results back from an independent database via the internet and the results will be displayed on the screen. The assessment results can be reviewed and printed at any time by an Advanced Roadskills coordinator.

Step 3.
Report the assessment results to the Instructor
If the user is taking a Young Driver NZ Programme the results will automatically be sent to Advanced Roadskills Ltd. The Instructor will take the student through the results and identify areas that require development. If not taking a Young Driver Programme NZ, the user can always refer the assessment report to his/her instructor to identify those skills that need improvement.

Step 4.
Personalised YDP in-vehicle training
Equipped with the student’s results, the Advanced Roadskills Instructor will include a range of in-vehicle exercises to personalise the driver training.
These behind-the-wheel exercises will reinforce the DriveFit NZ tasks, and allow the student to experience the benefits of cognitive training in the driving world and increases the chance of passing the driving test by producing a high standard of driving skills.

Step 5.
Personalised DriveFit/FleetFit NZ training
This Programme includes 18 unique training tasks comprising a total of 36 training sessions that will improve the user’s cognitive abilities.
Each training session (containing 3 training tasks) will take about twenty minutes. These should be started right away and completed over a period of about 12 weeks (and in combination with in-vehicle training if the user is an YDP NZ student).

DriveFit NZ is real, solid cognitive science.
